Harvest rainwater to water your plants naturally with a quality reused barrel made in Quebec!
Ecological Advantages
- Catch all that rain: a free and essential resource! A 45-gallon barrel can collect about 800L of rainwater per month from April to October from a 100 sq ft roof. With a 500 sq ft roof you could collect 4000L of water per month with 5 barrels !
- Supply chlorine-free fresh water at ambient temperature to your plants or use for cleaning and other uses (read testimonies)
- Reduce waste, pollution and greenhouse gases by choosing a rain barrel that is made in Quebec with a recycled barrel (see data sheet)
- Reduce your consumption of treated municipal water
- Reduce runoff water to sewers
- Create your own water reserve (esp. in cases of watering regulations and drought)
- Keep mosquitoes and organic matter out of your rain barrel with the solid double wire mesh in the cover

Practical Advantages
- Fill your watering can or connect a gardening hose to the quality copper tap
- Enjoy a 200 L (45 gal) resistant and robust plastic reservoir that will not crack or swell due to the environment (water, sun, etc.) (read testimonies)
- Easy to install under the rain gutter : the barrel is 1 m high and 55 cm in diameter. It is important to raise the barrel in order to be able to empty it, place your watering can underneath it and obtain some water pressure. Flatten the ground and place the barrel on a very solid flat base (such as cement blocks with a patio tile on top) at a maximum height of 2 feet for safety reasons - the barrel weighs 200 kg when full! Watch our demonstration video)
- Use the overflow to water a plant bed or water garden (just connect a 1-3/4" hose, for example a bicycle inner tube with the valve cut out)
Maintenance
- Before the first frost, it is very important to empty and disconnect your rain barrel. Leave the tap open so that water does not remain in the system. If you plan to leave the barrel outside for the Winter (which many people do without causing damage to their barrel), turn it upside down to ensure that no snow or ice will get in. If possible, store the Rain Saver inside.
- Make sure that the screw-on top is always closed tight in order to keep children and animals out.
- If you need to clean your barrel, use a soft biodegradable soap that will not affect your plants or the environment in general.
- If needed, add a tablespoon of bleach maximum once a year.
- Use your barrel exclusively to collect train water and use the rain water exclusively for watering, cleaning and other outdoor uses. Do not drink or otherwise consume the water. It is advisable to indicate clearly on the barrel that it contains non-potable water.
The Rain Saver meets the recommendations of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation ecosystem backyard landscaping.
